One of the aspects that drives me most about being a business leader, and delivering recognition services, is having the ability to use our platform to help others.
We invited Abigail Tappenden from a local charity, the Children's Respite Trust, to join our Awards Accelerator – a unique recognition training programme that gives you the full blueprint to winning awards and recognising your team and organisation's achievements.
The Charity sector has to work extremely hard, often with very little resources, to get their important message out into the world, which in turn enables them to do more great work.
The Children's Respite Trust is no exception. With a core belief that no family should be left to care for a disabled child alone, they provide support for families throughout East Sussex and into West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, Surrey and Kent.
We worked with Abi and the Charity to empower them to enter and win the best awards, and to be recognised for their work.
Training to Win
Across 4 weeks, we worked with Abi alongside other business leaders, marketing managers and business owners, covering 4 vital areas of learning;
Planning to Win
Using our roadmap to recognition methodology, we worked to analyse and identify their awards persona, assessed CRT’s impact, and guided them to develop three vital assets needed to win.
Discovering their Impact
Together we developed tools to collect qualitative and quantitative data including a detailed customer case study and customer impact survey, plus tools to analyse financial and community impact.
Writing like a Pro
I revealed our winning formula and secrets to writing award entries that score highly with the judges. Dissecting how to approach different award entry structures, and how to use professional writing techniques to answer the criteria while staying within the word count. Plus, how to design and craft compelling supporting evidence assets that score even more points.
Pitch Perfect
Using our unique awards Pitching and PR knowledge, we developed all the skills, tools, and assets needed to stand out and win when pitching to the judges. We also discussed strategies to elevate their personal brand to whip up a frenzy of valuable marketing activity.
Getting Results and Achieving Impact
We were literally jumping for joy when in less than 6 months CRT have been shortlisted in 2 local awards, and achieved their first award WIN. Kickstarting their recognition journey that will help them become visible to more local families, so they can help even more children.
Gavin Fisher, Children’s Respite Trust CEO said about their award win;
“Winning the Investment in People Award is a testament to the incredible team at the Children’s Respite Trust. Thanks to the training from August Recognition, we were able to share our mission and values in a way that truly resonated. This award not only energises our current staff but also enhances our ability to attract new team members who share our dedication. The increased visibility from this recognition has amplified the Trust’s reach, enabling us to continue providing essential care and support to the children and families we serve.”
Congratulations Gavin, Abi and the whole team, I'm so happy to see you recognised for all you do. Here's to many more exciting awards adventures, and many more people supported.
